May 05, 2004Spanking RallBryan has a lovely parody of Ted Rall. Go have a peek. It's a good thing!™ It made me laugh hard enough to forgive Bryan's evil gloating about the Red Wings' elimination. Posted by rosemary at May 5, 2004 01:09 AM | TrackBackComments
Hey, as I noted in response to your comment, any team that has as a fan the Queen of *All* Evil must itself be evil, right? If it makes you feel any better, my team - the Dallas Stars - were eliminated much earlier, thanks to the loss of a great coach - Ken Hitchcock - and all kinds of talent that ended up with the Wings - Hull and Hatcher, specifically. Posted by: bryan at May 5, 2004 01:15 AMFirst Rate! Way to go Bryan!!! I was actually pissed enough about the Rall's cartoon I sent the prick and email....pretty sure I'm not getting a response though. Hey Queen! Love to be part of the court.....you're part of mine ;) Posted by: ibejo at May 5, 2004 08:20 AMToo bad that Sinclair Broadcasting and Disney Incorporated aren't. They are corportions that rely on consumers. Their #1 priority is to make their consumers happy -- so they can make money. The corporate "free press" may have an interest in "freedom of speech" and full discourse, but only insofar as it is in the corporate interest to do so. And that is within their constitutional rights, just as it is in your constitutional right to support whoever you want to with whatever political messages you wish to put out. And you conveniently mistake "freedom of speech" with a requirement to fund that speech or distribute it, a la Michael Moore. Posted by: bryan at May 5, 2004 06:18 PMAgreed - the best way to let you opinion be known to corporate America is through where you spend your dollars. Posted by: ibejo at May 5, 2004 07:36 PMGod damn. I am in full agreement with Arne. Pinch me. Yes! Their responsibilities are to the shareholders. To maximize profits (legally, legally. Illegal activities impose unnecessary and unwarranted risk). Which the companies you cite are learning about. There is nothing immoral about profit Arne. Not a thing. No one holds a gun to your head and says "buy this service or my product". You are free to enter into the agreement, free to avoid it.
Consumers are the final arbiter. well, except for Arne's assertion of moral equivalence. That was crap Arne. The rest, ok. Posted by: Dave in Texas at May 5, 2004 07:43 PMHow many times? Who knows Arne, who knows? Aside from leaning on the keyboard, you've posted a rather lengthy and completely irrelevant post about corporate responsibility and broadcasting. Film distribution does not fall under that umbrella. As far as my agreement with you...I was speaking to others, is that not apparent to you? But you called out, so I'm here for you .. need a hug? Posted by: Dave in Texas at May 5, 2004 11:39 PMYes. Illegal activites are illegal. That's why they are called, illegal. What assertion of moral equivalance? This one: "Fair game. I'm all for full and open infromation and commentary. Too bad that Sinclair Broadcasting and Disney Incorporated aren't". We might disagree about what corporations should do? Oh, I'll bet a paycheck we will. What should corporations do Arne? See this will help, you were all concerned about how many times I was going to annoy you by agreeing with you. Like how often is that going to happen? Posted by: Dave in Texas at May 6, 2004 09:10 PM |
