They forgot to tell old Arnie one big thing about politics... no one can take a joke... evar.

Relax. Arnold is playing high stakes poker with the state budget and the Democrats aren’t going to be bluffed. This quote was from last week after Arnold called the Democrats “children” and said, "The state legislators want to take the money away from you and rob you blind'':

"It's part of the ritual,'' Darrell Steinberg (D), chairman of the state Assembly's Budget Committee said.

Maybe they’ll even force him to lead rather than let him get by on inane partisan rhetoric, one-time budget gimmicks and massive borrowing. Nah, probably not.

Girlymen all around the state are up in arms over having been compared to Democrat lawmakers. They get teased badly enough as it is.

Maybe Arnold might try to recruit candidates that could actually win in those districts represented by these so-called "girly men". Maybe some of the people in those districts have got to be given reasons to vote Republican.

There are many who do not see unions and trial lawyers as the evil bogeymen that some make them out to be. I do not even know if Arnold thinks they are. Arnold, those are not movie cameras running!

When politicians sound stupid I always prefer them to belong to someone elses' party.

OMG Isn't this just a lot of mountaining over a molehill? Why does every comment made by REPUBLICAN public officials have to be scrutinized under a microscope and made out to be some kind of innappropriate, insulting, derogatory, or offensive (or all of the above) barb?

Did the media make a big deal about Kerry saying "this fucking (Iraq) war" during his interview with Rolling Stone? I don't remember reading about it in the press or hearing about it in the news. I had to find out about it in blogs. Did the media chastise Gray Davis when he said, "you shouldn't be governor unless you can pronounce the name of the state," a reference to Schwarzenegger's accent? Davis was governor at the time, wasn't that a slam on people of foreign-born persuasion? Of course, Davis and his wife laughed that comment off as "a joke".

But Cheney tells a loudmouth boor to fuck off and it's the end of the freaking world. Now we have to hear about Schwarzenegger calling his enemies "girlie men". Big fucking deal. Everybody on both sides of the political fence needs to take some medication and stop being so damn offended everytime somebody on the opposing side opens his mouth.

Come on... ya got to love a governor that can call his political opponents 'girlie men.' Besides, the phrase comes from a satire... and his opponents are going to fall right into the trap if they take it too seriously.

Arnold's enemies oppose him at their own peril. Their biggest mistake could be to misunderestimate him. Any man that comes to this country with virtually nothing, becomes a multi-millionaire, and then becomes governor of the state, is not a man you want to stand in the way of.

And the Governor said,

"Legislators, he said are "part of a bureaucracy that is out of shape, that is out of date, that is out of touch and that is definitely out of control in Sacramento."

"They cannot have the guts to come out there in front of you and say, 'I don't want to represent you. I want to represent those special interests: the unions, the trial lawyers.' ... I call them girly-men. They should get back to the table and they should finish the budget."

I don't know how seriously I could take the opinion of someone who would repeat a misnomer like "misunderestimate." Good grief man. It's not a word. You should know that already since George Bush said it. How ironic that you used it seriously in a thread about saying dumb things.

Sure we can take a joke. Every time I hear the President speak, I laugh my ass off! I also laugh at myself because I voted for Nadar - in Florida no less. But the sentiment expressed is true, both sides have to "simmer down now!" Most of my dearest and close friends are conservatives, and we manage to have great friendships despite the fact that they are clueless, heartless morons. Still I am able to convert about one a year to come over from the dark side.

The problem here is that Arnold is a public official and his comments are open to everyone...including girls, women and gays. Not everyone watches SNL and therefore would not necessarily recognize his comment as satire. Arnold needs to show more respect for his office and for all citizens. I agree with the Queen!

There are far to many wussies on both sides of the political spectrum, but I'm sorry to admit, the left (and I'm proudly on the left BABY!!) is often far too sensitive and hypocritical especially when dealing with tolerance issues. I'm a liberal, tolerant, open-minded left-wing, pro-gay, pro-life, Soldier, but I'm no girly man pussy.

"Girly-man", Whoopie vs SlimFast, Cheney's pottymouth, and other similar stories are classic examples of misdirection. Like a stage magician who makes you watch his left hand while his right slips a card into his pocket, they serve to distract us from important, albeit less entertaining, details.

For example, all the "girlyman" stories fail to mention that Arnold is selling out CA to the energy companies who engineered the power shortages of 2002 for their own short-term profits.
