September 03, 2004Clinton HospitalizedFormer President Bill Clinton, 58, will be having a quadruple bypass. Yikes. I sincerely hope that everything goes well with his surgery. The angioplasty that he had a few days ago wasn't enough. I know two people that died because of blocked arteries. One was in his 30's and the other in his 50's. This is a very serious situation. I am praying for him and his family, please do the same. Posted by rosemary at September 3, 2004 03:31 PM | TrackBackComments
It seems he has not actually had a full blown heart attack and so he should do fine with surgery...although once you have blocked arteries it's probable that down the road you will have more blockages if you aren't careful and lucky. I wouldn't wish this on anybody after I saw my brother-in-law struggle for about 5 years and then succomb to the after effects of a major heart-attack. Posted by: jane m at September 3, 2004 04:06 PMAs a new reader to your blog I just want to say I think you do a fantastic job. Thank you Posted by: Sherry at September 3, 2004 04:34 PMThanks, Sherry! And Welcome to my Evildom! Posted by: Rosemary the Queen of All Evil at September 3, 2004 04:38 PMRosemary I haven't said for a while but I think so too. I really enjoy reading and blogging here! As Steven says HAIL TO OUR (FEISTY) QUEEN! Posted by: jane m at September 3, 2004 04:55 PMI enjoy having you here. And speaking of feisty... Posted by: Rosemary the Queen of All Evil at September 3, 2004 05:16 PMUm,...I'm just glad Rosey puts up with me. Posted by: Mark Adams at September 3, 2004 05:51 PMBest wishes to President Clinton, and I hope for a speedy recovery. I disagreed with him occasionally as President (mainly over his poor decision to commit a felony while in office), but happen to be rather fond of this unique American personality. To use SMA's favorite phrase, the man has _style_! Posted by: John Irving at September 3, 2004 06:02 PMMoi? fiesty? Ya' think? I'm sure I'm the soul of decorum...don't tell my husband I said that. He'd snort. Posted by: jane m at September 3, 2004 06:23 PMYes, I shall pray for him and his recovery. For the first time, I actually feel sorry for the guy. I hope and pray that he not only recover, but hopefully will stick to a regiment that will prevent further damage. Whatever one thinks of his record, he is still a fellow human being. It is good for us to remember him and his family. It will be a difficult time for them. Posted by: Edmond the Libertarian at September 3, 2004 08:11 PM"a regimen that will prevent further damage" Statins (to lower cholesterol) are very effective at helping prevent further clogging. If he gets into foods that raise the good cholesterol, that's even better, because the good cholesterol actually helps remove buildups. You don't have to give up the Big Macs. You just have to balance them with other things. Why I got on that tangent I'm not quite sure... Get well, Mr. Clinton. You've got a well-earned retirement to enjoy. *(anyone who has been President of the US earns their retirement. It's one of the most busy and stressful jobs in the world.) Posted by: B. Durbin at September 3, 2004 10:59 PMI will pray for him and his loved ones. Yes, he does have _style_. I hated many of his policies, but I do not hate the man. Posted by: Steven Malcolm Anderson the Lesbian-worshipping gun-loving selfish aesthete at September 3, 2004 11:27 PMI can almost always forgive anyone who is seriously ill, especially someone as charming and likeable as Bill Clinton. I hear that he has been following the South Beach diet for some time and hasn't been eating at MacDonalds either. Actually, what you eat doesn't always matter. My boss had two heart attacks in 6 months. He was not overweight, ate a sensible diet and was an avid bicyclist riding in many rides of several hundred miles every year and training vigorously at all times. Ya' just never know. Posted by: jane m at September 4, 2004 12:31 AMI question the timing of this (heart) attack from the left.
