I had to get my drivers' license renewed this year too, with an extra speed bump in the way -- I had to get one in Louisiana.
Why is that a speed bump? I came this close to having to request my dossier from the Feds via the Freedom of Information Act in order to prove that I am a US citizen. Long story. I get exhausted just remembering it.
P.S. Once I finally got my license, I also checked off the box for Organ Donor.
I started doing that in the 70s. Now my organs are pretty old and I'm not sure they are still "fresh" enough but if they want 'em, they got 'em. I intend to be cremated so no use burning up any tissue that might be of use to another human being.
