Part of the charm of the show is getting to know the contestants, watching them evolve, and also seeing how they stretch their talents to fit the rigorous requirements of the show.
Bo's last night was pretty much rigged against him: two of the songs he was required to sing (no choice) were completely outside his normal style, and frankly his take on the one song he did get to pick (Vehicle) was lacking in energy.
The notion that good performers don't have off nights or get handed lousy material is just silly.
I've been pretty thrilled recently reading about his backgrond before going on AI. I had no idea he'd spent time working with a lot of the old school Muscle Shoals crowd. That explains a lot. :)
