Memorial Day
For most of us, Memorial day is the beginning of a summer season full of sun, BBQ's, vacations and fun. Sometimes we forget that we wouldn't be free to enjoy all of that if weren't for our soldiers and veterans. This day is about those men and women that lived and died protecting our freedom.
So, please enjoy your day but always remember who made it possible and honor them.
I want to thank all the soldiers, veterans and their families for their service and the sacrifices they made so that me and mine could be free, safe and happy. If you'd like to say thanks but you don't know any vets or currently serving soldiers check out the military bloggers.

(Nice to see you Steven Malcolm Anderson from USA :))
Thank you and....
God bless Poland!
We are honored to have a Pole join our conversation. Poland has much to be proud of...Madam Curie, Chopin, the first European constitution and much more, a history of survival and struggle against oppression and a culture of celebration.
Our Memorial Day holiday began several decades after our Civil War (1860-1864) when Southern familes of the fallen soldiers made it a practice to choose a day to "decorate" the soldier's graves with flowers and other things. The holiday used to be known as "Decoration" Day and was changed to Memorial Day later in the 20th century. It has now become a day when all graves are remembered, not just the fallen soldiers and veterans but all the ceremonies are to honor the veterans and war dead.
I have been laying flowers on my family's graves since I was a little girl and was taken to the cemetary by my parents to pay our respects to my dead grandfather (who did not fight in any wars). I didn't realize that the day was meant to honor soldiers primarily until I was a teen-ager.
As my friend, Steven Malcolm Anderson said "God bless Poland" and you, too, Robert.
