2005 was a pretty good year.
In order of how they happened, here are some personal highlights:
The birth of my very first nephew Aidan on January 12th
The birth of my second son Draco on January 19th
Draco's baptism
Jacob's First Communion
The bastard skunk that kept getting into the crawlspace under our home and spraying his odor once a month like clockwork and making our house reek for a week...he went away or died or whatever. Leaving only his creepy possum friend behind.
Summer was nice and we only had 3 power outages and 2 rolling blackouts. Better than last year.
Draco celebrated his most significant firsts.
Jacob continues to surprise us with his wit, intelligence and his amazing capacity for love and caring.
Dean's Dad is still safe and working on his second tour in Baghdad.
Jacob and Draco are both happy and healthy.
Celebrated 10 years of marriage.
Got a brand new dishwasher. (after the first one caught fire)
Dean graduated finally got his Bachelor's Degree with high distinction (4.0 gpa).
I got Civ 4 and a cell phone for Christmas.
Lots of other great things happened and some tragic. The loss of Steven Malcolm Anderson is still felt deep and I truly miss him, probably always will.
2006 looks promising. I love an election year!

You set a good example of the wisdom of counting one's blessings. Your young family had a fine year by all accounts and I rejoice with you and Dean. May 2006 be equally blessed for all the Esmays.
I think losing Steven from our midst is a grief shared by many of those who were often entertained and inspired by his wit, compassion, wisdom and very unique perspective on many subjects. He often made me reflect more deeply on his musings and he frequently made me laugh! I was always humbled by the breadth of his knowledge on so many subjects. He was a true scholar and a very dear person to me.
May this year bring a plethora of more blessings! =)
Happy New Year to you all.
