I don't think you are reading too much into it. Let's not forget the genes in that boy! They say kids are sponges at that age..they absorb so much knowlege..maybe he is letting you know that you won't hold the title much longer for the highest IQ in the house! :)
Take the puzzle pieces and move them around (bunny to the cat food, dog to the lilly and snail to the fridge). If its not a coincedence, he will put them back in their rightful spots.
Sounds like my nephew is very smart... ;-)
And even if he doesn't, that's very cute.
I have no idea what he knows because he doesn't speak. His actions suggest that he is really bright but he is pretty much non-verbal.
