I'm talking about the CPL Pat Tillman incident. How is it that so many high ranking officers responsible for critical military plans and solving complex engagement scenarios thought that they could hide the truth of those tragic events? I've got two easy to understand theories and one that I don't even want to consider.
Theory 1: Protocol initial received inaccurate information about what happened, ran with it, and when the truth came out, they said "oh shit! What the hell are we going to do now!?!" They decided to go with the lie out of fear.
Theory 2: They knew the truth, but wanted the spare the family the reality of what happened and concocted a hero's story. A big part of me would want my family to think that I died a hero saving others, and I'm not sure I'd want the truth to be told if I was killed by friendly fire. Still, on general principle, truth outweighs myth. I don't think it would be good as a nation to allow our military and government to constantly lie about situations like this.
Theory 3 (the cynical one): The Army knew the truth all along, but they wanted to rewrite recent history to boost their own propaganda. Look, he's a hero. Be inspired by his sacrifice! Join the military! Hooah!!
Honestly, I think the truth can be found in all three theories, but in the end we are left with a dead Soldier, a dead American, and the least we can do for him is honor is sacrifice and tell the truth and punish the liars.

Besides, why are you bringing this up now? Don't you support the troops? You must know that this kind of talk only emboldens the terrorists.
I support myself, and since I'm a troop - I'm self-supporting.
Attention citizens of the United States especially elected officials!!
Soldiers, Marines, Airmen and Sailors all know that 99.9% of America supports them and respects deeply our service, and that is not just lip service. Protesting against the war is NOT protesting against the Soldiers...we know that.
Recently I attended a Pearl Jam concert, and Eddie Vedder (not 20 feet away from me) made comments very critical about the Bush administration and the war, at the same time, he caveated his comments by saying that "I know that there are many people in the audience who are either in the military or spouses and children of those serving in the military, and to that I say thank you." As he was bowing down in the "I'm not worthy" gesture which was very sincere. The large military crowd went wild with applause. I did not hear a single boo or see an angry face in the crowd. Local non-military people around me were shaking my hand all night and thanking me...even the dude lighting up a big fat joint bought me a beer....
We know....and you're welcome.
Two words: Jessica Lynch.
Say, didn't Republicans used to be the cold-eyed, competent realists?
Go figure.
Nine of her US comrades were killed. Iraqi soldiers took Lynch to the local hospital, which was swarming with fedayeen, where he was held for eight days. That much is uncontested.
The rescue operation was misreported, but the initial facts and her persnal bravery were not. But I'm not surprised you'd use the opportunity to spit on a soldier if you thought it would hurt Bush.
I spit on official liars, John (as you may have noticed, I’m still just talking with the fools). I'm sure your "unbiased" "gospel" sources make those lies look much better.
Jessica Lynch was a victim of these f*ckers, just like everyone else.
Oh, and here are your "initial facts":
Except none of that happened:
What about official propaganda don't you understand, John?
For you, John, it's always about Bush, isn't it?
Not a single high ranking officer was responsible for Tillmans death. And it may have been his own error.
It hurts to admit that the Tillman relatives are doing what they are doing. It doesn't appear to be a path of healing but one that leads to more and more bitterness.
Who would ever want to see Mrs. Tillman become the next Cindy Sheehan ?
Just my view.
Tillman should get the Silver Star just for turning down a $3.6 million dollar NFL deal (and all the riches and glory thereof) to go to Afghanistan and get shot at for $35K a year. Talk about serving your country and setting an example for your peers. Sh*t, they should make one in platinum, just for him.
