I hope ALL the names are made public. Besides, our overworked stressed out congress could use a little release now and then. Hopefully they put massage "therapy" into the military budget so our Soldiers coming back from the war can relax as well. Typical for Washington, and VERY typical of the Bush Administration.
On Friday, Tobias resigned as deputy secretary of state one day after confirming to Brian Ross of ABC that he had patronized the Pamela Martin firm. Speaking Saturday on "Good Morning America," Ross said Tobias told him Tobias' number was on Palfrey's phone records because he had called "to have gals come over to the condo to give me a massage." There had been "no sex," Ross quoted Tobias as saying; Tobias also said he recently has used another service, "with Central American gals," for massages. Tobias, who is 65 and married, was director of U.S. foreign assistance and administrator of the U.S. Agency for International Development. He previously held a top job in the Bush administration overseeing AIDS relief, in which he promoted abstinence and a policy requiring grant recipients to swear they oppose prostitution.

Here it is:
Calling this guy (or any pious Republican) a hypocrite is like saying dog bites man -- after all, people expect politicians to lie -- especially Republicans.
Instead of saying that what the hyprocrite does is at odds with what he says, save your fire and shine a light on what it is that the hyrpocrite has actually done.
If, in the future (or the recent past) the hypocrite has done something that is particularly heinous, then go after it. If not, leave it alone.
In this particular case, the hypocrite's private sexual conduct is not heinous -- and Democrats ("known" to be sexual libertines!) should be the last ones to point out anything to the contrary.
In short, watch what the hypocrite does, not what he says.
Better example: if you bring down a president for lying under oath about getting a blow job, it's far less newsworthy (or should be) than a president breaking his oath of office to preserve, protect and defend the constitution.
Both lied, right? But the respective acts behind the lies are hugely different in practice and in outcome.
Rudy Giuliani brags about be tough on terrorism. But the facts belie his claim. So what? Here's what: dozens, maybe hundreds, of people died on 9/11 because of Giuliani's willful ignorance of established emergency response protocols in the years between 1993 (first WTC bombing) and 9/11.
Who cares if he is a lying hypocrite? What's more important is what he DID not what he SAYS.
Or when he says he is a tough, pragmatic administrator; the record shows something dramatically different. He convinced Bush to nominate Bernard Kerik, a corrupt apparatchik who had mob ties, to be head of DHS. Giuliani knew Kerik's background. But he ignored it because he believed more strongly in loyalty and cronyism.
Do we another president like that? No.
But the only way we avoid it is to shine a light on what Giuliani has already done, not on what he says about it.
That said, I don't give a rat's ass. It doesn't make you a bad politician to be screwin' around. Politicans are not who I choose to look towards for upstanding morals. No matter what their side of the fence - but if they were beatin' the war drum on Clinton, fry 'em! We all play by the same rules, or nobody plays.
Slighly off topic - sorta, but WHY is it we make consentual sex for $$ illegal in the US? Wouldn't Uncle Sam make a pretty pennny of the taxes?? Just curious who defends the sex trade ban and who doesn't ...
why are you so damn hung up on what Senator is boinkin' what prositute? I thought private sex was private sex - no matter WHAT your office or who your consituents were??
Not for the first time, I agree with you. See the very first comment in this thread.
Yes, Tim,
Get a clue.
Or else read, Catch 22 by Joseph Heller,
Its about life 'du jour'.
What does that mean?
My point has always been (and you can examine my posting history) is that what's the big deal about sex? It's just sex. An adulterous president (or congressman for that matter) is NOT less trustworthy in my mind NOR is he or she more likely to betray the nation simple because he wants to get his groove on with a 20 year old hot college girl. It's not about character, it's about SEX!
What has bothered me is that certain groups of the population (the christian right) is hung up on the sex thing. Abstinence-based education is a MASSIVE failure because it's not REALITY--based.
Control and dominance in any society usually occurs when certain freedoms are introduced into the culture. Look at the middle-east for example...women are covered head-to-toe, forbidden to be alone with a non-family member male, and completely control their women. They don't want their women to be sexually liberated because deep down inside, they don't want to think about their sister, girlfriend, or betrothed being gorilla-fucked by some college stud.
It's true of any fundamentalist religion it seems, whether Christian or Islam. What the fuck is up with churches not allowing women to wear pants or above the knee skirts? And this is in America!?!?
It's plain and simple religious oppression to teach your children that it's wrong for boys and girls to swim together or hold hands or dance. It's child abuse.
I say let's get these names out in the open and be done with it. "Oh, I see the senator from Oklahoma enjoys golf on Thursday and a Friday afternoon handjob."
The situation is only messed up because WE are messed up in the head about sex. This wouldn't even be a story in Europe...hmmmmm maybe the Europe is a superior society....yes, in that respect they are...well, that and they work less hours, drink more, smoke more, live longer, are more educated, less obese, enjoy more holidays, and nowadays less likely to start an unnecessary preemptive war. But damn, those are alot of taxes to pay.
Sounds delicious. I'll have a bowl of that.
When Clinton got busted with Lewinski, my first thought was, “my God, what choice did he have? Not like the POTUS is going to take the Secret Service entourage along to the no-tell motel." The Kennedy era is long gone.
Men crave sex. Often. Duh. Nothing to see here…move along.
