Well, if Bill Kristol says it, that's good enough for me.

George Tenet can go Cheney himself. If he’s telling the truth in his book, he saw that the administration was scamming the country into a stupid, pre-ordained war policy and, in the end, he just went along (like our pampered poodle press corps).

Now he’s crying about his “reputation.” Feh. You lay down with pigs, you’re going to get dirty.

According to The Weekly Standard Ricard Perle wasn't even in the country the day after September 11th. He was stuck in France until the 15th. I'm pretty sure I don't even have to say that Perle denies this conversation ever took place.

Like I keep saying, "watch what they do, not what they say."

Tenet might have gotten his facts wrong on the meeting date with Perle.

But it was Perle's wisdom that was used by Bush-Cheney to take us into a disastrous war that has cost us $1 trillion and 30 thousand American casualties.

You can discount whatever you want about Tenet's account (and I think he's a self-serving boot licker).

But don't let Perle off the hook. When it comes time to reckon who's really to blame for Iraq, history will hunt Perle down and ruthlessly scorch his ass.

Guess I'll have to read the damn book now.

Why? Is your blood pressure a little low today?

Tenet is a g**d****d liar. Why pay attention to anything he says?

Arianna on Tenet:

Tenet seems to believe there's a major distinction between lying and standing by silently while others lie, and then proudly receiving a Medal of Freedom from the liars.

He could have simply resigned and freed himself to "tell the truth." Tenet acts as if resignation were not an option. But it was. And the passion and anger he displays now in the service of book sales could have been used then in the service of his country.

It's clear that Tenet is NOT lying. Richard Clarke was NOT lying. Colin Powell was NOT lying. Joe Wilson was NOT lying. Three of those four are republicans for christ's sake! What does it have to take for you to believe that they are telling the truth?!? Holy Shit!!

Look, it's very simple. Cheney and HIS neocons saw this as a clear opportunity to re-establish/build a U.S. friendly middle-east with liberty and justice for all. Got it. Had they been correct in their predictions about how things were going to go in Iraq and the aftermath, we would be celebrating them as visionary genuises. At least I would be. However, they were wrong on EVERY POINT!! Bill Cristol went on television and said there is not a Shia Sunni rift or potential conflict. He was one of the key voices in the think tank! Rumsfeld and Cheney actually believed that the entire Iraq conflict from start to finish would involve our troops for no more than 6 MONTHS!!! They said that on television!!

Some of you fuckers are not only drinking the cool-aid but coming back for seconds.

MONKEY FUUUUUUUUUUCK!

From a current article:

You were well aware that the White House tried to present as fact intelligence you knew was unreliable. And yet you tried to have it both ways. On October 7, just hours before the president gave a major speech in Cincinnati, you were successful in preventing him from using the fable about Iraq purchasing uranium in Africa, although that same claim appeared in the NIE you signed only six days before.

Although CIA officers learned in late September 2002 from a high-level member of Saddam Hussein's inner circle that Iraq had no past or present contact with Osama bin Laden and that the Iraqi leader considered bin Laden an enemy of the Baghdad regime, you still went before Congress in February 2003 and testified that Iraq did indeed have links to Al Qaeda.

You showed a lack of leadership and courage in January of 2003 as the Bush Administration pushed and cajoled analysts and managers to let them make the bogus claim that Iraq was on the verge of getting its hands on uranium. You signed off on Colin Powell's presentation to the United Nations. And, at his insistence, you sat behind him and visibly squandered CIA's most precious asset-credibility."

Ok, so Tenet was a Cheney stooge before the Iraq war, but NOW he's telling the truth.

Ara,

Had he said "September 11th" I would agree anyone could get the meeting date wrong. He didn't say that, he said "the day after," a day which nobody over the age of six could ever get wrong.

Correction: "September 11th" above should read September 12th.

See -- even you got it wrong!

But I digress:

Tenet got Perle's comment spot-on regardless of the date (he was off by four days).
