My son started posting at a Garry's Mod forum a couple of years ago. At the time, he was a terrible speller, and had only a distant relationship with grammar and punctuation.
The forum, however, give and takes away smartness points based on the text that you write. His written communication skills are now excellent, on a par with most adults, and he's keenly aware that his online reputation is tied to how well he writes.
So, yeah, really good idea in my opinion. Plus we'll get some gaming tips.
I actually had a seed planted by you. I'm considering letting my oldest do a post (maybe once a week). She really needs to work on her typing skills, spelling, sentence structures, etc and she's fascinated by my blog (for some unknown reason). I applaud you doing it, I hope Jake likes it and sees it as fun instead of "work".
Garry's Mod is a modification of the first person shooter Half-Life 2. It's quite cool in that it's removed any game-playing, and is instead a giant workshop that allows people to build things out of objects found in the game engine and experiment with them. This has resulted in some pretty weird constructions.
And a Garry's Mode forum is just a discussion board devoted to the subject.
Ah, you remember the crips. Sorry, we're in Italy now so I can't get you any more. Unless USAFE is willing to give us another go round. How 'bout some Tiarimisu? I can send Kinder Supressa as well.
Ah, my girls are more into Barbie versus shooter games (that and I won't let them play my Duke Nukem or Castle Wolfenstein or Doom). Interesting to know though. :)

At age ten ?

Considering that nowadays children start surfing the internet a few weeks after they are born, I'd say age 10 is good for some creative writing.
Hope you have some fun.
But then my ten year appears to be a creation machine...
Yours,
Wince
