My Zen

Kenpo Karate. I've started taking both private lessons and group. This week I learned how to throw a proper punch, the key being to cause as much damage to my opponent and as little to myself. I've also learned how to move while throwing left hooks and right crosses. I did 3, 2-minute rounds, got slightly winded. Then I did a second set and really kicked butt. It appears I'm a natural boxer. I also have a killer left. Next week, I start learning open hand and foot strikes, also blocking. Eventually, I'll work my way up to weapons. Of course, that's way down the road...

I'm so in deep like with this sport. The biggest thing is that I've finally started to have the fog lift from inside my head. I'm starting to see things as they are and not how I wish them to be. It's Zen, baby. It can be brutal but at least it's honest.

Good for you Rosemary. I'm biased but I would argue that no sport on earth has the benefits that good Karate styles give: balance, flexibility, strength, timing, concentration, discipline and that work the entire body so completely. Enjoy.

Alice, I was serious. You should sign up with me. The cardio alone was worth it and i hate aerobic stuff. This was fun and you know whose face I was visualizing while throwing punches, don't you? Absolute Zen, baby.

Mark Adams, who's always correct, get used to it. (mail) (www):
Don't forget to take the time for meditation too. Same effect as doing a bunch of Hail Mary's and Our Fathers ... without all the, well ... you know ... Hail Mary's and Our Fathers.

I would like to sign-up...I am going to see what I can work out in my schedule. I would like to work off some aggression by throwing a few punches, too. There are at least two or three faces I would imagine... Hmmmm, this is gonna be fun.

Punching faces is not Zen - not even close. Well, I guess if Mike Tyson became a Zen master....you might be on to something.

The Zen comes after the hard workout. I feel a sense of peace and calm. That is Zen, baby. I need that since sex is not happening anytime soon...
