Wow. I'm just shocked. My opinion of this latest idea from the University of Colorado is that they should NOT DO IT! They plan to create a "Chair in Conservative Thought and Policy".

Lack of ideological diversity in universities is nothing new and it is somewhat of a problem, especially for students that don't feel represented. But to turn this into an affirmative action issue is just wrong. How can anyone accurately determine what is inside one's mind? There is no real way for this to work and they shouldn't do it even if they could.
Affirmative Action is something that should slowly lessen as equality among minorities and women increases. We should not be looking to create more "oppressed" people. If we are going to start using Affirmative Action to equalize thought then what group will be next? How many lawsuits can we expect in the future? This idea stinks to high heaven and we only have ourselves to blame. Well, actually, I blame liberals...
When ideological affirmative action becomes standard, what will we have wrought?
