So sayeth the California Supreme Court. Because this decision was based on the constitution of California, the only way to change this ruling is an amendment to the California constitution.

So, for now, it looks like same-sex couple in California finally will have their marriages recognized. Will there be a constitutional amendment on the ballot, in November?

I'm sure some groups will try hard to get an initiative on the ballot. California voters did overwhelmingly pass Prop 22; the ban on SSM that just got overturned. However, that was 8 years ago, times change and the political climate has been changing in favor of SSM for a while. So who knows for certain?

Personally, I hope not. I think gay and lesbian couples should have the same right to be miserable as hetero couples...

LOL. And remember, they DEMANDED this as a civil right. They'll have no one to blame but themselves.

The measure was already submitted for signature verification, about a month ago, and it seems likely that it will qualify.
